DC Backyard Bound 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 7, 2015—For the second year, the SYTA Youth Foundation partnered with Destination DC's philanthropic arm, American Experience Foundation, to invest in local D.C. students through the DC Backyard Bound Program.

The 2nd Annual DC Backyard Bound program took 30 8th grade students from Charles Hart Middle School, located in the D.C. metro area, to the heart of Washington, D.C. This one-day experience gives deserving students the opportunity to experience some of Washington, D.C.'s iconic sites and attractions. The students' principal shared the following thank you note, which reinforces the work of SYF:

About SYTA Youth Foundation

The SYTA Youth Foundation (SYF), the philanthropic division of the Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA), provides access to travel opportunities for young people that would otherwise be unavailable due to family economic hardship, budget cuts in school systems, or lack of access to or education about travel as a learning experience. SYF is focused on changing young lives through travel. SYF is celebrating its 15th year of connecting volunteers, in-kind donations, and financial resources from the student and youth travel industry and the public with deserving students and teachers.
